What is Jamf

USNH uses Jamf Pro, an IT and asset management system, to manage all of its institutionally-purchased Apple computers and iPad fleet. Jamf Pro helps USNH to better secure and track an Apple computer or iPad from the time of purchase through the lifecycle. Jamf also serves to make computer or iPad desktop support much more efficient. Jamf has been adopted to enable a standardized Apple device deployment method, distribute device settings, and reduce security risks from unpatched, out-of-service software on USNH devices.  Jamf is a comprehensive Mac management tool used ensure security is up-to-date, and maintains Apple device configuration standards on institutionally purchased devices at the University System of New Hampshire. Jamf also allows you to easily install University-licensed software.

Apple security updates will be automatically installed. If you prefer to minimized disruption and choose when to restart, approve and install software and updates when notified of a security update. Reboot to complete the installation. Antivirus software will be maintained by Jamf and regular, unobtrusive scans will be run automatically. In the event of a threat detection, USNH Cybersecurity or Desktop Management will contact you to remediate.

A myriad of standard applications are available now and more can be made available as your local IT professionals identify software useful for your group.  Reports on virus detections, updates installations, installed hardware, and power usage will be available to your local IT professionals.
