UNH Canvas: Enabling Parchment Digital Badges

Summary

This article explains how to enable Parchment Badges in your UNH Canvas course. Parchment can be used for digital badges. A digital badge (Microcredential) is an electronic representation of a skill, achievement, or experience. ​This article applies to UNH only.

As of October 2025, Canvas Credentials has been renamed Parchment Badges. Existing credentials are unaffected by this change.

 

Task: Enable Parchment Badges in a UNH Canvas Course

Instructions

Enable Parchment Badges

Step 1 - Log in to your UNH Canvas course at https://mycourses.unh.edu/  

Step 2 - Scroll down to SETTINGS

Step 3 - Click on NAVIGATION

Step 4 - Scroll to the bottom grouping that is HIDDEN

Step 5 - Find Parchment Badges and Enable by clicking the 3 dots

Step 6 - Click SAVE at the bottom

 

Canvas Homepage

Step 1 - Authorize access to PARCHMENT BADGES

Step 2 - Review HOMEPAGE (Progress, Badges and Pathway progress, and Learner Progress)

 

Badge to Module/Assignment Setup

Step 1 - Select MANAGE BADGES on Homepage of Setup Tab

Step 2 - Select CANVAS COURSE BADGES Tab

Step 3 - Choose the DESIRED BADGE based on Module and/or Assignments preference and trigger preference (Percentage score, or complete item)

Step 4 - Click SAVE
 

Resources

While Parchment Badges is open and available for the UNH community to use, you must have an account issued in order to access. Additionally, badges have to be created by the UNH Micro-Credentialing unit. See the Digital Badge (Micro-credential) service page for more information or to propose a new digital badge or issue an existing digital badge
