Task: This article describes troubleshooting tips for Zoom.
Instructions:
Scheduling
- Be aware that in August of 2024 New Faculty and Students will only be provisioned a Zoom Basic (free) license. This is due to USNH moving away from Zoom and to MS Teams.
- If you are not new to the university system, ensure you are logged in using your USNH credentials.
- As of July 1, 2025 all USNH Faculty, staff and students will be moved to a Zoom Basic license. Those teams wishing to stay with Zoom and not move to Teams will need to purchase their own Zoom Pro licensing
Audio Issues
- The most common problem in any kind of web meeting has to do with the microphone and speaker settings.
- How do I access my audio settings? Here is a quick video tutorial about Zoom audio settings
- How do I fix echo issues? Echo can happen if the microphone and speakers are too close or multiple participants are in the same room
Permission Problems
It is important to understand that meeting 'hosts' and meeting 'participants' will see different tools and different tool permissions
- How do I change my Zoom settings? Zoom settings are quite straight forward
- How come I can't hear a participant? A host can unmute and mute participants
- Why don't I have access to screen sharing or a recording button? Be sure to login to the UNH Zoom home page and join your session there
- Why can't I log into the UNH Zoom Home page? Please call UNH IT support for log in issues
Network Issues
It is highly recommended to use a 'wired' network connection to the Internet for all web conferencing events- especially for meeting hosts!
- What can I do if I have to use a wireless network? Zoom has put together a nice checklist for wireless meetings
- Are there best practices for preparing my computer for a web conference? Yes- try closing every browser and all programs not needed for the event (especially e-mail programs that may be 'slowing' your connection to the internet.)
- Why can't I connect to Zoom? There is a very slim chance that Zoom is having network issues
