UNH Students - Accessing a Windows 11 or Windows 10 license key

Summary

UNH Information Technology has negotiated access to the Microsoft Windows operating system (OS) at no additional cost for use by the entire campus. 

  • UNH Students can install Windows 11 or Windows 10 on computers they own.
  • UNH Faculty and Staff can install Windows on University-owned computers, but not personally-owned computers.
  • The Windows OS can be used by any person on the UNH campus whose computer meets the specifications for the particular OS. In addition, you must have a properly configured campus network connection to your computer, including computers connected to the UNH Wired Ethernet Network and the eduroam Secure wireless network.

Task: To access Windows 11 or Windows 10 license keys for UNH students

Note: To access the Windows Operating System, employees should follow the steps at Windows Education is available to Faculty and StaffStudents should follow the instructions below:

To download off-campus, ensure your internet connection is robust and that you are connected to the USNH GlobalProtect VPN (see GlobalProtect VPN: General Information and Resources ). If you have questions about network connections, please contact the Technology Help Desk at 603-862-4242.

Instructions

Step 1 - Go to: http://unh.onthehub.com

Step 2 - In the top right-hand corner, click Register.

Step 3 - Enter your UNH Email Address.

Step 4 - Account Registration: Follow the instructions on the page and enter your information. Make sure you select "student" as the group to which you are affiliated!

Step 5 - Check "I'm not a robot" and click Register.

Step 6 - A confirmation email will be sent to your UNH email. If you do not receive an email, resend the confirmation email.

Note: It can take a few minutes for this email to come through, so please be patient.

Step 7 - In your Inbox, open this email.

Step 8 - Click on the link provided.

Step 9 - This page will open. On the upper left, click on "Microsoft"

Be aware that as you go through this process, the system will prompt you to purchase other services/software. These other services/software are NOT free, and you will be charged for them at checkout!

When it is time to check out, you should have a zero ($0) balance.

Step 10 - Choose Microsoft Windows 11 or Windows 10 Education (Multilanguage) -- Download

Step 12 - Enter your UNH email as your username, and type your name the same way it is written below the signature box and click Accept.

Step 13 - Proceed with your order.

Step 14Right-click and copy this product key. You will need this later.

Step 15 - Open your email, and send yourself an email with the product key included in the text area.

You can now:

  • Purchase the Parallels product and have two operating systems on your Macintosh, or
  • Use Bootcamp and have two operating systems on your older Macintosh, or
  • Upgrade from another version of Windows OS

Outcome

You have successfully obtained a legitimate product key for Windows 11 or Windows 10 Educational.
