Kaltura Capture Folder Directory

Task: This article will walk a user through navigating to a recording that was saved locally.

Instructions:

There may be times when you need to retrieve a recording file from the computer that was used to make the original recording. This will most likely be necessary if something went wrong with the original upload.  Please use the instructions below to find the local recordings, based upon what operating system you are using.

The following folders are included in the Capture Directory:

  1. Bin - includes the KalturaCapture executables.

  2. Logs – includes the application and UploaderService logs.

  3. Recordings – includes all local copies of your recordings.

  4. Settings – includes the application’s settings.

  5. To navigate to the Kaltura Capture application’s folder

Windows

  1. Right-click on the Kaltura Capture icon on the desktop.

  2. Select Properties.

  3. Click on 'Open File Location' and go up one folder to the 'Capture' folder.

  4. Or simply go to: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Kaltura\Capture\

Mac

  1. Go to the Finder.

  2. From the Go menu, select Go to Folder.

  3. In the form, enter ~/Library/Preferences/Kaltura/Capture/

  4. Click Go.

  5. Or simply go to: /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Kaltura/Capture/

  6. Please be aware that during the recording process, Kaltura makes two separate files. There will be one file containing audio and the desktop capture and one file containing audio and the instructor recording. You may retrieve both of them but if you are uploading into My Media, you will not get the same picture in picture playback as if the video was completed and then uploaded from the Capture recorder.

Outcome:

User will be able to navigate to a recording that was saved locally.
