PaperCut Print: Printing from a Managed Computer - Windows

Summary

This article has instructions for how to print to a Conway-managed Xerox printer/copier/scanner multi-function device (MFD) from a USNH-managed Windows computer.  Using "Follow-Me printer queues" which can output to any of these Xerox devices, you choose to print in either black & white or color.  When you are ready to pick up your printout, you release the print job to whichever Xerox device you want.  This article is for USNH employees.

Before you begin

Task: Confirm availability of the Follow-Me printers

Instructions

Step 1 - Search on your Windows computer for "printers" and Open Printers & scanners in System settings.

Step 2 - Look in the list of Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners to make sure you have the following printers available.

  • KSC
    • B&W_KSC
    • Color_KSC
  • PSU
    • PSU_BW_EMPLOYEE
    • PSU_COLOR_EMPLOYEE
  • UNH
    • UNH_BW_EMPLOYEE
    • UNH_COLOR_EMPLOYEE
  • USNH System Office
    • UNH_BW_EMPLOYEE
    • UNH_COLOR_EMPLOYEE

 

Outcome

You have confirmed that the Follow-Me Printer queues are available to you on your USNH-Managed Windows computer.

If you do not have the Follow-Me Printer queues, use the “Request Printer Help” button on the Central Printing Service page to submit a support request.

Task: Print to one of the Follow-Me printer queues.

Instructions

Step 1 - Open the Print dialog in your desktop app or browser, then click on the Printer drop-down list to select a printer.

For example, in Microsoft Word, go to File > Print then click on the Printer drop-down list.  You will see a list of all the printers configured on that computer.

Step 2 - Select one of the Follow-Me printers from the Printer drop-down list

Step 3 - Confirm that your selected printer appears in the Printer drop-down field.

Step 4 - Adjust any other Print Settings you want to change — select which pages to print, number of copies, single- or double-sided, where to place staples (if any), which paper tray to use, etc.  Use the Printer Properties link > Printing Options tab to access further advanced features specific to the printer, if needed.

Step 5 - When everything is as you want it, click the Print button at the top.  This sends your print job to the Follow-Me printer queue.

Step 6 - Your print job is held in the Follow-Me printer queue until you release it.  There are three options to release a print job:

Option A - Go to your chosen Xerox printer MFD, tap your ID card or log into the printer, and release the print job from the printer control panel touchscreen.  See detailed instructions in our article on Releasing Print Jobs via Xerox Tap-to-Release

Option B - Go to your chosen Xerox printer MFD, use your mobile device to scan the posted QR Code, and select which document(s) to release to print. See detailed instructions in our article on Releasing Print Jobs via QR Code

Outcome

You have successfully printed your document(s) to your chosen Xerox printer MFD using one of the Follow-Me printer queues from your USNH-managed Windows computer.
