My students are receiving an error when they attempt to login via my invitation link, what can they do?
Students are required to login to Zoom and logout to activate their account prior to clicking the Zoom link.
Can anyone join my meeting?
Anyone can join your meeting, including those not affiliated to an USNH institution. USNH strongly suggests you use waiting rooms as one way to control who participates in your meeting/class.
How many people can join my meeting?
Standard meetings may include up to 300 participants. Meetings with more than 300 participants require you to complete the large meeting/webinar request reservation form.
Do I need to request an account be setup for me?
No. As of Fall 2024 all USNH employees and Students are being moved to a Zoom Basic License. All USNH students and staff can go ahead and login. There's no need to request an account or anything else. Upon initial log-in your user account will activate: Zoom: How to Sign In
Do I need to have all participants mute their videos so Zoom does not crash?
This is not true. Zoom will not crash if participants are not muted. It is good practice for the host to control the muting of participants by clicking the Mute All button to keep control of the meeting/class. Click here to learn how to control participants in your Zoom meeting.
Is the Zoom meeting connecting everyone to my computer?
No, everyone is using the Zoom servers.
Zoom is centrally funded by USNH, and all students and employees get basic licenses at no direct cost to the users. Departments using some features like toll-free call in numbers do need to pay for the charges they incur.
What are the system requirements? What kind of computer, camera, microphone, etc do I need?
Zoom should work well on most any modern computer as well as from tablets and smartphones. Zoom has published official system requirements for computers. This document also lists recommendations for cameras, microphones, speakers, and other accessories. Keep your technology tools and devices up-to-date, and in good working order by installing regular Operating System (OS) and software updates -- like Office 365 and the most recent Mac OS.
Visit Zoom's website, support knowledgebase, or YouTube channel.
Users should be able to have knowledge of using Zoom.
Please fill out the Zoom Web Conferencing help form with as much detail as possible, or contact the Technology Help Desk on your local campus.
