How-To
Task: How to use filters in Search in Kaltura

- Select the Filters button located near the search bar.

Using the Date Created Filter
The Date Created filter allows you to locate media based on when it was uploaded to Kaltura
To filter by date:
- Open the Creation Date filter section. If you don't see this option be sure to click on the arrow next to browse filters to see all the additional filters not on the initial page.

-
Select your preferred filter Any Date - Last 7 days - Last 30 days - or Custom
- Enter a Before date, After date, or both if using custom
Only media created within the selected date range will be displayed.
Common Use Cases
- Locate videos uploaded during a particular semester.
- Find media created before or after a specific date.
- Review older content as part of media retention or cleanup efforts.
Tip: If you are searching for older content that may no longer be actively used, combine the Date Created filter with the Plays sort by functionality and then use table view for the best overview of said media.
Sort By Functionality
The Plays sort by allows you to sort media based on the number of times it has been viewed. You can also sort by:
Creation Date - Descending, Creation Date - Ascending, Update Date - Ascending, Update Date - Descending, Alphabetically A-Z, Alphabetically Z-A, Views, Likes, Comments, Scheduling Ascending, or Scheduling Descending
To sort by plays:
- Select the Plays sort by filter section.

The results will display only media that falls within the selected range.
Common Use Cases
- Find videos that have never been viewed (0 plays).
- Identify lightly-used media (fewer than 10 plays).
- Locate highly-engaged content (100+ plays).
Combining Date and Plays Sort
Using both filters and sort by together can help identify media that may need review or cleanup.
Example
To locate older content with little engagement:
- Date Created: Before January 1, 2025
- Plays: Sorts numerically from high to low go through to identify which have been played minimally

- Filters remain active until cleared.
- Use keywords in the search box along with filters for more refined results.
