Zoom: Recording to the Cloud (My Media)

Task: This article describes how to use Zoom to record directly to My Media via Kaltura.

Instructions:

Zoom is a video conferencing software that allows for real-time video and audio communication in events such as meetings, lectures, webinars, and training sessions. Please follow this link for an an overview of Zoom at USNH.

All USNH Pro Zoom accounts have the ability to record directly to My Media in Canvas via Kaltura. After beginning your Zoom session, click Record at the bottom of your screen. You must then choose "Record to the Cloud" for the automatic transfer of your Zoom recording to Kaltura's My Media to occur.

Once your recording has stopped, Zoom will automatically transfer the video to "My Media." Once the video is in My Media, in order to share the video you will need to either move it to the Media Gallery or embed the video in a page.   Kaltura: Embed Video and Audio into Canvas (MyCourses)

NOTE:  The video will move to My Media of the Creator of the meeting, not necessarily the host if the host did not create the meeting.

Once in Kaltura, your Zoom recording will be automatically captioned.

After your session has ended you will receive an e-mail similar to the following with directions on how to view and share the recording:

Hello <<your name>>,

*Notice* Due to the high volume of Zoom recordings right now, processing times can take up to 12 hours.

Your Zoom Cloud Recording will be available within the next 2 hours.  You can access the recording in My Media within Canvas.  For more information about viewing and sharing this recording, please see these knowledge base articles:

Kaltura: Media Gallery and Analytics

Unsubscribe: You can disable Zoom e-mail notifications in your Zoom Profile Settings

Outcome:

Users should be able to use Zoom to record directly to MyMedia via Kaltura.
