Task: This article explains how to update the settings to allow the iClicker Faculty Remote advance PowerPoint slides. Faculty using Mac Mojave O/S will have to also update their System Preference to give the iClicker software control.
Instructions:
iClicker Settings:
Add the serial number to the iClicker course in Settings to allow the faculty remote device to recognize and advance the slides.
- For each iClicker course, under Settings, in the Instructor Remote ID field enter the iClicker Serial found on the back of the device.
PowerPoint settings:
The PowerPoint presentation must be setup to recognize the external device you are using to advance slides.
- Open the PowerPoint and in the Transitions tab, look for Advance Slide option. Remove the check box for advancing the slide "On Mouse Click". Select the "Apply to All Slides" option.
Computer Settings:
If you are using a Mac computer and the operating system is Mojave, (to check your O/S click on About this Mac from the apple icon in the top left of screen) you have to also update the computer settings.
- Go to the System Preferences, then select Security and Privacy Setting.
- Select Privacy and then Accessibility.
- Click on the Lock and enter your computer password to unlock the settings.
- Click on the + icon and navigate to the iClicker Application to add iClicker Classic to the list of apps that can control your computer.

Running a Polling Session and using the Faculty Device to Advance Slides:
After going through all of the above steps, when you are ready to run a polling session and PowerPoint is in Presenter (Slide Show) mode, Click once on the PowerPoint which lets iClicker software know that the PowerPoint is the focus and the Faculty device will control the slides.
Note: If you are using an earlier version of Mac O/S then you may not have to update your settings. At this time it appears that this is related to the Mojave O/S. Also, PC users will probably not have to update their system preferences.
PC users may need to click on the PowerPoint to let the iClicker software know that the slide show is the focus app.
