Teams Chat: Hiding/Unhiding Chat Sessions

How-To

Although you cannot delete chat sessions with contacts in Microsoft Teams, you can hide sessions and un-hide them when you need them again.
 
Task: To hide a chat session.

 

Instructions

Step 1 - In Teams, select Chat from the navigation bar.

Step 2 - Right-click on the chat session that you want to hide.

Step 3 - Select Hide from the context menu.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Outcome

The chat session is removed from your list.

Hidden chat sessions aren't displayed anywhere in Teams.

Task: To unhide a chat session.

 

Instructions

Step 1 - To access a hidden chat session, enter a phrase that's included within the chat - such as the name of the contact - in the search box at the top of the screen.

Step 2 - In the search results, select the chat session that you want to unhide to add it back to the chat list.

 

 

 

 

Step 3 - Right-click on the chat session that you returned to the chat session list, select Unhide from the context menu.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Outcome

The chat session is ready for you to continue your conversation.
