Summary
Starting with version 2022.3, Desktop users can access flat files stored in SharePoint or OneDrive. The same file types that are supported by Excel, Text, and JSON connectors are accessible via the OneDrive and SharePoint Online connector. This article has instructions for connecting to departmental files or scheduled WebI Reports on SharePoint or OneDrive and set up the data source from Tableau Desktop.
How-To
Task: Make the connection to OneDrive or SharePoint and set up a data source from Tableau Desktop.

- An authentication message will appear in the browser that opens. “Tableau created this window to authenticate. It is now safe to close it.”
- Close the browser window when notified to do so.
- You can choose from OneDrive (Personal Files), OneDrive (shared with you) and SharePoint Sites and then search for or select the file you want, then click Connect.
Step 2 - On the data source page, do the following:
- (Optional) Select the default data source name at the top of the page, and then enter a unique data source name for use in Tableau.
- For example, use a data source naming convention that helps other users of the data source figure out which data source to connect to.
