Adding embedded credentials for OneDrive and SharePoint on Tableau Server

Summary

Starting with version 2022.3, Desktop/Server users can publish flat files stored in SharePoint or OneDrive. The same file types that are supported by Excel, Text, and JSON connectors are accessible via the OneDrive and SharePoint Online connector.  This article has instructions for how to add embedded credentials to Tableau server for publishing OneDrive and SharePoint connected data sources.

How-To

Task: Add OneDrive or SharePoint credentials to Tableau Server.
 

Instructions

Step 1 – Connect to the VPN and then open https://tableau.unh.edu in the web browser of your choice.

  1. Under your user profile at the top right corner of the screen select “My account Settings”.
     
  2. Browse to the Security section and scroll down to “OneDrive and SharePoint Online”.
     
  3. Choose “Add”. A pop-up window with your Microsoft account details will open. If you are not already signed into O365 you may need to authenticate.
     
  4. Once you enter credentials choose test to validate the connection. 



     

Outcome

Users should be able to successfully save credentials on server for OneDrive or SharePoint which will enable extract refreshes of connected data sources.
