A1 - Why are we transitioning from Zoom to Teams?

  • The transition to Microsoft Teams is part of an ongoing effort to streamline communication and collaboration across USNH and provide cost-effective solutions to meet all business needs. Teams offers integrated features such as chat, file sharing, and collaboration tools that enhance productivity and connectivity.

A2 -  Can non-USNH/external people join a USNH Teams meeting?

  • Yes! You can allow external users to attend your meeting. External users can join without having a Microsoft 365 account via their browser

A3 - When will the transition take place?  

  • The transition will begin in July 2024 and is expected to be completed by May 2025. Individual units will be getting detailed communications on plans for when their users should plan to transition.

A4 - Do I have a basic or pro Zoom license? 

New users entering USNH will be given a basic license beginning August 19, 2024. If you are new to USNH employee after August 19, 2024 and need a pro license, the new employee should submit a ticket on their own behalf. Legacy users will maintain their pro-license until further communication is given to their department on the transition. If logged into Zoom in the app, you can check your license by going to your upper right-hand profile. Click on your profile image or placeholder, then click on Settings and then Profile. Here you'll be able verify if you have a pro account (ie Licensed) or a Basic account as it will either state Licensed or Basic

A5 - How do I access Microsoft Teams? 

  • You can access Teams through the desktop app, web browser, or mobile app. Download the app from the Microsoft website or your device’s app store, and log in using your institutional credentials. Read our Knowledgebase article on Accessing Microsoft Teams for more information.

A6 - What are the system requirements for Teams?  

  • Teams is compatible with Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. Find out More about Teams through our Microsoft Teams area in the Knowledge Base.

A7 - What features does Teams offer that Zoom does not?  

  • Teams integrates with other Microsoft 365 apps, offering features such as persistent chat, file sharing, and collaboration on documents in real-time. It also provides robust security and compliance features.

A9 - Does Teams have breakout rooms? 

  • Yes, breakout rooms are available in any meeting with less than 300 people. You may assign meeting attendees to breakout rooms before or during the meeting.

A10 - Can I record my meetings in Teams? 

  •  Any Teams meeting or call can be recorded for future viewing. The recording captures audio, video, and screen sharing activity, and you can share it securely across your organization. The recording is processed and saved to OneDrive or Sharepoint depending on the type of meeting.

A11 - Can I or others share our screens during a Teams meeting?

  • Yes. You may choose to present your entire screen, a window, a PowerPoint file, or a whiteboard. By default, any meeting participant is a presenter and can share screens. There are options available to restrict sharing to only certain participants.

  • You may have up to 1000 people in the same meeting.

  • Yes, you can schedule meetings directly in Teams or through Outlook. Teams meetings can be scheduled as one-time or recurring events, and you can invite participants via email.
