Summary
This article contains instructions for how to install the GlobalProtect VPN client from PaloAlto networks onto a personally-owned computer or mobile device. USNH-managed computers will have this VPN client installed automatically.
Audience: Students, Faculty, Staff, or other USNH account holders who need to use the USNH VPN on a personally-owned device.
How-To
Task: To Install the GlobalProtect VPN client on a personal Apple Mac OS computer.
Note: Use these instructions on your personal Apple Mac OS computer. USNH-managed computers will have this VPN client installed automatically.
Instructions
Step 1 - Open a web browser. Go to the USNH GlobalProtect VPN Client Download Page and click on the "GlobalProtect VPN" bar to view the download options.
Step 2 - Download the Apple/Mac GlobalProtect .pkg file onto the computer where you are installing GlobalProtect. Save the file in a location where you can find it, "Desktop" in this example:
Step 3 - After the file finishes downloading, find where you saved it and double click to run the Installer. Install GlobalProtect using all of the default options (several screen shots below):
Step 4 - You may be prompted for credentials that have privileges to install software on your computer. Type in your computer password and click "Install Software". When prompted, click "OK" to allow the Installer to access files on your computer.
Step 5 - Click Close when the installation is complete.
Outcome
You have installed the GlobalProtect VPN client on your personal Apple Mac computer. USNH-managed computers will have this VPN client installed automatically.

Step 1 - Open a web browser. Go to the USNH GlobalProtect VPN Client Download Page and click on the "GlobalProtect VPN" bar to view the download options.
Step 2 - Download the Windows GlobalProtect .msi file onto the computer where you are installing GlobalProtect. Save the file in a location where you can find it, such as "Downloads".
Step 3 - After the file finishes downloading, double click to run the Installer. Install GlobalProtect using all of the default options.
Outcome
You have installed the GlobalProtect VPN client on your personal Windows computer. USNH-managed computers will have this VPN client installed automatically.

Task: To Install the GlobalProtect VPN client on a mobile device.
Instructions
Step 1 - On your mobile device, go to your usual App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
Step 2 - Search for "GlobalProtect" with sub-title "Secure Network Connection" (iOS, left) or "Palo Alto Networks" (Android, right).
Step 3 - Click the button to Get or Install the app. This app is free, so if it asks you to pay, you have chosen the wrong app.
Step 4 - If requested, provide your device passcode, password, or biometric unlock to allow the app to install.
Outcome
You have installed the GlobalProtect VPN client on your mobile device.
