Task: This article describes how to add media to a channel using MediaSpace.

MediaSpace allows users to upload, manage, and share media. Channels are a means of sharing sets of media assets with other users.

Information:

A channel is a user-generated collection of content. You can access your channels from the My Channels selection in the User menu within MediaSpace. To work with channels, you need to do three things:

  1. Create and manage the channel
  2. Add content to the channel
  3. Control which other users have membership to your channel and what rights those other users have

Adding Content to a Channel
You can only add media items to a channel if you have first added them to your My Media collection. if you have new media items on your computer, first upload them to MediaSpace before proceeding with trying to add them to a channel.

  1. Go to the the MediaSpace site at media.unh.edu, mediaspace.plymouth.edu, or mediaspace.keene.edu, and login with your username and password.
  2. Select My Channels from the User drop down.Select My Channels from Dropdown
  3. Click on the title of the channel that you would like to add content to.
  4. If there are no playlists in the channel, you will see the +Add to Channel button
  5. If the channel has playlists, select the Media tab to the right of the Home tab, located above the channel(s). Then select the +Add Channel button.

     6. Filter or search your content to locate the item(s) you want to add to the channel.

     7. Check the box(es) next to the media you want to add.

     8. Click +Publish.

The media you added to the channel immediately become available to other users at your institution, to other channel members, or to the whole world based on the type of channel and access rights to that channel.

Content can also be added to channels by starting with the media item in your My Media collection and using the Publish options there. For details on this approach see MediaSpace: Publishing and Sharing Media.
