Overview

OneDrive is the Microsoft cloud service that connects you to all your files. It lets you store and protect your files, share them with others, and get to them from anywhere on all your devices. When you use OneDrive with an account provided by USNH, it's now called "OneDrive for work or school." however it was formerly known as "OneDrive for Business," so you may still see it referenced that way in some areas.

Important! Your USNH OneDrive for work or school account is not intended as the primary source for storing large amounts of department owned data (like SharePoint). It does NOT retain permanency, and is subject to deletion when your employment or student status expires. See FAQ's for Graduating StudentsMoving Institutional Files to SharePoint before leaving USNH and Copying Personal Files/Folders before Leaving the University for more information.

OneDrive for work or school allows you to store, share, and collaborate on work or school files:

  • Storage: USNH provides 100GB of OneDrive storage. You can store files in OneDrive and access them from any device.
  • Sharing: You can share files with others and grant them permission to edit.
  • Collaboration: Multiple users can work together in real time on documents.
  • Sync: You can sync OneDrive to your computer to access files even when offline.

OneDrive is available on many devices, including Windows and Mac desktop, Android, iOS, and through any web browser.

Some features of OneDrive for work or school include:

  • All files that you store in OneDrive are private unless you decide to share them. You can share files and folders with a small number of co-workers so you can collaborate on short term projects.
  • Recycle bin: Deleted files are moved to the recycle bin and kept for 93 days before they are permanently deleted. Note - OneDrive has a two stage Recycle bin - a first stage which is visible on the Recycle Bin tab, and a second stage which is accessible by scrolling to the very bottom of the Recycle Bin page.
