Outlook: Sending an Email Message using a Proxy Address

Summary

This article describes how to send as a Proxy Address in Microsoft 365. A Proxy Address is an additional email address for a Primary Mailbox. Historically, proxy addresses could not send mail, however, this feature allows users to do so. A good example of this is how in our consolidated Microsoft 365 environment, you may have affiliations with more than one system campus. Now, you are able to send to either address, not just your primary.

How-To

Task: To select the proxy addresses displayed in the From drop-down menu.

Instructions

Step 1 - Sign in to Portal.Office.Com

Step 2 - Select the Waffle icon Office 365 app launcher icon > Outlook.

Step 3 - Select Settings Settings > View all Outlook settings > Mail > Compose and reply.

Step 4 - In the Addresses to send from section, select the proxy addresses to include from the drop-down menu.

Note: The proxy addresses shown are controlled by your affiliation with the University System of New Hampshire. If there are questions on why you do or do not have a specific address, contact your HR department (Employees) or University Registrar's Office (Students).

Step 5 - Click Save.

Outcome

The From drop-down menu is populated with the proxy addresses that are selected.
