Outlook: Removing and adding an email account using the Mac Desktop application

Summary

This article explains how to update your Mac Desktop Outlook App for the USNH unified M365 environment. There are two parts:

 

How-To

Task: To remove the old campus-based account.

Instructions

Step 1 - Open the desktop-based Outlook Application for Mac

Step 2 - Go to Outlook > Settings in the upper left menu next to the Apple icon

Step 3 - Select the "Accounts" tab in Quick Settings

Step 4 - Under the accounts listing, select your campus account and click the Manage dropdown menu and select Remove account.  This will remove the account from the desktop-based Outlook application on your computer but will not impact the email on the web.  You may have other accounts listed in the accounts listing (i.e. Gmail or iCloud) - these accounts are not impacted by this process and should be left as is.

Step 5 - Quit (⌘Q) out of the Outlook Application.

 

Outcome

Your old campus-based account will be removed from the desktop-based Outlook Application.

Task: To add the USNH unified M365 email and calendar accounts.

Instructions

Step 1 - Open the desktop-based Outlook Application for Mac.

Step 2 - Go to Outlook > Settings in the upper left menu next to the Apple icon:

Step 3 - Select the "Accounts" tab in Quick Settings

Step 4 - Under the accounts listing, click the Add Account option below your USNH account

Step 5 - At the Welcome Screen, enter your username@usnh.edu (fully qualified username, example: jbd2519@usnh.edu) into the Email address prompt box and select "Continue"

Step 6 - On the USNH Enter Password page, enter your password and click Sign In.  If required, approve the login attempt with your preferred method of multi-factor authentication (MFA). 

Note: If a server address is needed, it is outlook.office365.com

Step 7 - You will be passed back to the Outlook Application and will see a green check mark indicating that your account has been successfully linked.  When finished, click Done

Outcome

Your USNH unified M365 email and calendar accounts will be added to the desktop-based Outlook Application.
